5th EUROPEAN I-TREE CONFERENCE: MEASURING, VALUING AND MANAGING URBAN FORESTS

24-25 September 2026, Malaga, SPAIN

Registration Open – book now for our Early Bird

We welcome researchers, practitioners, and ecosystem services professionals to the 5th European i-Tree and Ecosystem Services Conference, in the beautiful city of Malaga, Spain. Our theme this year is Measuring, Valuing and Managing Urban Forests

The event will be held on September 24–25, 2026, at the Historic Botanical Garden of La Concepción.

The ecosystem services of urban trees and forests are widely recognized, but quantifying these benefits remains challenging due to still fragmented methodologies. This conference focuses on the i-Tree methodology and the many emerging European initiatives in modelling urban tree and forest ecosystem services. These tools can be used to make decisions, develop policies, and set priorities to help municipalities in urban forest management.

This year, the conference is being held in conjunction with the Tree Cities of the World (TCOW) Europe Meeting (September 23rd–24th) to bring together researchers, practitioners, and municipalities.

What to Expect in Malaga:

  • i-Tree Development: Speakers from the core i-Tree team will join us to present the latest software developments and future directions for the tool.
  • European Initiatives: Dedicated sessions on current ecosystem services modelling initiatives across Europe.
  • On-hands Workshops: We will host technical workshops about the potential of ecosystem services data for citizen communication and urban forests and trees strategic planning..
  • Call for Abstracts: For the first time, we will host a poster session to feature recent research in the field.
